Of course I had heard of L’Occitane. In fact, my mom would take me to their Westchester Mall store every year for Christmas to buy my dad their Shea butter cream. (He worked outside and this insanely thick cream was his favorite during the winter months.) But that was it! Pick up the cream, pay, leave.
The past year or so, I’ve seen their French-yellow storefronts popping up more and more around the city, and I’ve seen collaborations between L’Occitane and some other favorites of mine: Rifle Paper Co., Gal Meets Glam, and most recently, Mackenzie Horan. I went into my neighborhood L’Occitane (because yes, evidently I have one), and picked up the Friends & Family gift Mackenzie gave her readers. It’s what’s pictured above: little travel sizes of three of their most popular products: Almond Shower Oil, Shea Butter Soap and Precious Body/Face Cream. But during my visit two things happened. The first was I noticed how large the store was, and how many products they actually had, and the second was that I was offered a free mini-facial.
Of course I said yes. I wouldn’t be me if I turned that down, lol. Aside from having the sweetest woman perform the facial, I also fell in love with the brand. As we’ve discussed, most products I lean towards focus on brightening and hydrating my skin. Well, would you know L’Occitane has a whole line devoted to just that?! As a rule, I attempt to hold off buying products right after a service. I need to be sure they settle properly on my skin and that it actually makes sense to add to my routine. That being said, I was itching to get back to L’Occitane to buy two of the products the facialist used on me: the Illuminating Scrub and the Brightening Cream.
The Illuminating Scrub has become a new regular in my rotation. I’ve been using it weekly to get all of that New York City grime out of my skin. You basically use the scrub on your face and let it sit for about 10 minutes. By the time you wash it off, it’s disgusting (sorry) and your skin is soft as can be, and feels so clean.
While the Brightening Cream is not specific to under-eye care, it’s job is to even out skin tone in an all-natural way. I’ve been using it under my eyes as well as around my whole face, and I’m happy to have found an all-inclusive cream that actually problem solves and works.
And now, I’m addicted. The natural ingredients, soft scents and overall quality of the products is something my skin craves. I can’t believe how long it took me to figure this out! And now you know too (if you have also been living under a rock)!
