I really wanted to write this post in October, you know, when there would have been more fall days ahead. However, since it was so warm, I wasn’t motivated to wear fall fashion and traipse around Manhattan. I figured you weren’t either, and I’m sorry to have assumed.
That being said, it’s now November and i have a feeling we’re going to have a short fall. So while New York City is doing it’s best to prepare for Christmas, let’s enjoy a few fall gems.
Take a foliage walk in Central Park.
Honestly, we’ve only started to get some color in the trees as of late. The park looks beautiful! I feel like every time I walk through, I discover some new area, or see something different. Take advantage and go for a pretty walk before it gets too cold!
Sip a hot autumnal latte.
I am not a fan of pumpkin, but for those of you who are, I heard 12 Corners Cafe is really good! Two Hands Cafe also has a great latte menu. My current favorite is from The Clocktower Restaurant at the New York Edition Hotel. It’s their Braindust Latte, and I’m convinced it has superpowers (more than emptying my wallet).
Watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons get inflated.
One year, I actually went to the Thanksgiving Day Parade. It only worked because I was fortunate to have a friend who lived with an apartment-view of the festivities (I get nervous in big crowds). However, everyone says seeing the balloons get inflated is so cool. This is happening at the Museum of Natural History the night before Thanksgiving. Get to 79th and Columbus by 5 p. to ensure a good viewing spot.
*You can always also take Metro North upstate to the towns of Tarrytown, Hudson and Cold Spring for antique shopping, Hudson River and Bear Mountain views, and hot apple cider.
*Things we missed because I wasn’t timely with this post: Pajama Program Pajama Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, Bike MS, TCS New York City Marathon, Pumpkin Festival in Central Park, Feast of San Gennaro. Sorry, guys.
