While my mind’s been wandering to the beach this month (t minus one week ’till Aruba), my wrists are already there. You don’t need a lot to build a nauti jewelry collection (note: ‘nauti’ being used the way the kids use ‘bad’…and also as an abbreviation for nautical)…just some anchors, shells and ropes and you’re set.
The thing about nautical-themed jewelry is that it’s really fun. It has a summer (duh) air about it that even when you’re stuck in the office, it reminds you of the sea…salty hair and a suntan. Being such a coastal girl myself – both loving the New England beach towns and southern cities like Charleston – I love having links to the water on me during my Manhattan days.
Fortunately, the following three boutique brands are so good at making their jewelry that you can wear it year-round without looking like a sailor. They mix and match well, both with each others pieces and other pieces from their own collections. (ps. all of their Instagrams feature their jewelry and a nauti lifestyle so perfect you should definitely follow along for inspo.)
Anchors & Pearls // Kiel James Patrick

Or KJP, as you may know this brand by, is my go-to for anchor-themed jewelry and affordably-priced pearls. I love that most of the brand’s items are clasped with a hook and anchor, so the theme is there but subtle if you want it to be. KJP and his p-i-c/wife/dog-mom/soon-to-be-real-mom Sarah have expanded the brand recently to include some clothing, a pet line and tech accessories, and they’ve opened their first storefront in Newport, RI (congrats!). While I’m so happy for them on this front, I’m cool with sticking with their pearls and anchors…for now.

Shells // Sea Dipped

Something I love equally as much as nautically-inspired jewelry? A chance to give back. For every (unique) shell Sea Dipped dips in 24k gold, 10 baby sea turtles are saved!* Ay, sea turtles. Like the other brands mentioned, Sea Dipped pieces are handmade. Unlike the others, what your final piece looks like will be somewhat of a surprise. That’s because each piece is literally made with a shell taken out of the ocean from different parts of the world. So cool. Be okay with the flexibility because everything is gorgeous…and because you’re saving sea turtles. Dude…sweet.

Ropes // Allison Cole Jewelry

I leave my ropes to Allison Cole Jewelry. They’re so simple and understated: maritime rope and nauti clasps…really, that’s all there is to it. They’re thin and light, and come in some great designs. Plus, Nicole of Allison Cole and I have a lot in common: we both love New England but live in New York. In a sport-eat-sport world, that’s a huge deal! Anyway, I like these bracelets best stacked. While each piece is awesome on it’s own, they totally compliment each other when worn together.
