Ladies, let me tell you something: traveling is not the time to try new beauty products. I understand how easy it is to pack that sample of face cream you received a while back, but skincare experts have strongly stated otherwise. Sure, vacation is a time to go off-routine (for some), but your skin thrives on consistency.
You’re probably thinking that you don’t want to lug your entire bathroom cabinet in your already-full suitcase, and that’s fine. Here’s how I make it work:
I take the watered-down version of my skincare routine. Instead of face wash and makeup remover, I’ll bring my makeup-removing face wipes. I’ll still bring toner, serum and eye, day, night and body creams.
For my hair, I have the travel-size of the MoroccanOil Hair Treatment, and I like my regular shampoo and conditioner.
As for makeup, most makeup fits the TSA-approved guidelines, so you should be fine. The only things of mine that don’t work are my primer and perfume. Because my perfume doesn’t come in a rollerball – which is really inconvenient, by the way – I just ask Sephora to make me a sample of what I already wear and take that with me.
So for packing purposes, you’ve got two options. You can buy smaller sizes and keep them stowed away and ready to go, or you can pack smaller containers.
You fill these bottles with everything above we mentioned that’s too big for the TSA: toner, serum and eye, day, night and body creams, shampoo and conditioner, and primer. Then I throw them in an ordinary cosmetic bag and I’m all set. The best part is, if you don’t go through all of the products, you can leave them be and just refresh for your next trip!
