My sister once joked that if you invite her to your house, she’ll show up with Brussels sprouts. The joke was funny because it’s true. This recipe is her favorite, and every time she makes them they’re a huge hit. Whether they’re for a side dish on your own dinner table or they’re your contribution to a potluck, be expected to be complimented if you make these Brussels!
Recipe below from Daniela:
1 lb Brussels Sprouts
2 tbsp grass fed Butter, Ghee or aroma-free Coconut Oil
2 tsp Caraway Seeds
1/3 cup Water
Pinch of Sea Salt
2 tbsp Dijon Mustard
1 tbsp Pure Maple Syrup
Chop the Brussels sprouts into halves and add butter (or your preference from above list), caraway seeds, water and sea salt to a cast-iron pan. Bring to boil. Lower to medium-high heat and cover, allowing to sautè for about 5 to 10 minutes. Add the mustard and maple syrup, and stir. Serve or bring to your next gathering!
Note: Caraway seeds are a carminative spice and promote the elimination of indigestion and distension, they help break down macro-nutrients, and relieve intestinal cramping. Basically, they’re great for digestion – perfect for holiday season!
