Wow, it took a week but welcome to my first post of 2018! Naturally, I’m starting with travel. Travel genuinely feeds my soul and I honestly wish it was possible to do so more often.
I was supposed to start my year off with a weekend in Charleston, followed by a few pre-scheduled trips this calendar year. Unfortunately, Bomb Cyclone happened, and the poor Charleston airport couldn’t open because of icy runways. Hopefully that cancelled trip wasn’t bad karma for the rest of my travels this year!
So for 2018, I prioritized travel with three big trips, with weekends away to be scheduled in between. If you’ve been to any of the places below, please share your experiences, favorites and must-see/do’s leading up to my excursions.
I honestly have not been this excited for a trip in a long time. My sister is temporarily living in San Francisco, so in February (a favorite travel time for me since it coincides with my birthday), I’m going to visit her. We’ll spend a few days together there, then drive the Pacific Highway down to Newport Beach, where we’ll meet the rest of my family for a Newport/San Diego vacation. Just sharing the news of this trip makes me smile. I can’t wait.
This is my big trip of 2018. I have never been to Ireland before, and one of my best friends and I decided it was time to hang up our hats on weekend travel and go abroad together. We’re going in April, and we’re flying into Dublin. That’s all I’m going to share for now, but just know: Ireland, April, recommendations.
And of course, I wouldn’t be a Sorentino if I didn’t go to Aruba at least once a year. My family is going in August again – our new favorite time to go – because of less tourists, and extra time in the sun. This is a trip I greatly look forward to because it is literally the most relaxing place I have ever been. Plus, because I’ve been so often – every year since I was 13 – I now have favorites, routines and ways to stay scheduled while there. It’s great.
Smaller Trips – Weekends away pre-scheduled
- Charleston, SC
- Boston, MA
- Cape May, NJ
- Easthampton, NY
- Scituate, MA
- Newark, DE
Smaller Trips – Weekends away I’m hoping to schedule
- Cape Cod, MA
- Saratoga, NY
- Philadelphia, PA (maybe can combine with my trip to Delaware)
- Savannah, GA (maybe can combine with one of my Charleston trips)
Where are you going this year?!
