Location: Upper East Side
One of my favorite things to do in my neighborhood is go dream shopping on Madison Avenue. Similar to SoHo, Madison Avenue is home to some of the best collections out there. Ranging from affordable to runway, it’s fun to just go in and out of the stores, sip champagne and see the latest styles.
After getting dressed for work all week, there’s nothing better than getting to wear something comfortable and casual on a Saturday. Ever since I bought this J. Crew fleece two weeks ago, I haven’t taken it off. Actually, when Allie and I met up to take these photos, she was also wearing it! It’s so warm and soft and the pink color makes it fun, too. I also have a Patagonia fleece, and find that equally hard to resist. They’re perfect for layering over a warm top and under a puffy coat. You’ll stay nice and warm.
Another note about when we took these photos: My. Poor. Ankles. It has been so cold out lately, but I cannot continue wearing snow boots or Hunters. I was supposed to be in Charleston the weekend after Greyson working on a special project, but unfortunately the snow delayed those plans. I was really looking forward to wearing my APL sneakers, but knowing that even Charleston was blanketed in snow, I knew there was a chance my Hunters would be all I wore. I bought my APLs in the early fall, and genuinely look for opportunities to wear them. I’m such a jeans, tee and sneakers girl, but haven’t really bought any pairs lately outside of Converse or exercise, but the APLs were a game changer. They’re so lightweight and comfortable – almost like you’re barefoot – it’s unbelievable. Plus, they come in a great selection of colors. As much as I love heels and pretty flats, when you’re wandering around Manhattan, it’s important to wear supportive shoes sometimes too.
My favorite stretch of Madison Avenue shopping is in between 60th Street and 80th Street. There’s a great variety of shops including Kate Spade, Tory Burch and Lilly Pulitzer. Plus, this is also where Laudreè can be found, and their hot chocolate is like no other.
